Past Events 2009

Company Events

Affirmation Ceremony

Last year, affirmation ceremony was a decentralised event.

For us, we headed over to Changkat Changi and had a combined Affirmation Ceremony with their Air girls unit. Affirmation Ceremony is held each year where Secondary 1 students are officially welcomed into the Corp as new members of the NCC. It is also to honour the senior cadets of their achievement and contributions to their Units and the Corp. During this year's affirmation ceremony, we had a simple pledge taking and singing of the NCC song to mark this day.

Company Camp

Company Camp is usually held twice a year, each lasting 2nights and 3days. Last year, we had 2 of such camps, in march and in november.

During the march camp, cadets got to experience dragon boating and Luge in Sentosa. For many, it was their first time. These activities were catered for the cadets to instill unity and camaradarie amongst our new sec 1s and their seniors. After the luge, we stayed on at thebeach for a bit of soccer and captains ball then we had a picnic. Although tired, the cadets had enjoyed themselves throughout the camp.

Towards the end of the year, we had our second unit camp. This time the main highlight of the camp was our 15km hike from Bukit Timah to MacRitchie Reservoir. Before heading to the end of our hike, our guide took us up on a tower where we had a breathtaking view of the Bukit Timah Hill. The journey was long and tiring but rewarding. We also started practising our free style routine for the FreeStyle Drill competition which will take place early this year.

Besides hiking, we had a water battlefield where the seniors prepared water bombs and water guns. The cadets were spilt into 2 groups equally. At the end of the day, there weren't any winners but a company of green smiley faces.

Later that night, we slept in tents which was the first time for many of our secondary one cadets. Our teacher officers also slept in a basha that they built on their own!

National Day Observance Parade

Last year, NCC was appointed the Guard of Honour Contigent. This meant that we would be in-charged of all the preparation work, from marking the parade ground to ensuring that all the other UGs know what was going to happen. Due to the h1n1, CCA was on hold for a period of time. Immediately after we resumed CCA, trainings were catered to practicing our arms drills and foot drills.

On the morning of the 8th of August 2009, the contigents assembled at the form up point, waiting for their turn to march proudly into the parade. The supporting contigents were made up of cadets of the NCDCC, St. John and the Girl Guides while the GOH contigent were of the cadets of NCC.

During the the marchpast, everything had came to an end. We knew our hard work was paid off.
